2030 WRG Country Initiative: Blending Partnerships and Finance for Water Security

2030 Water Resources Group

In just 15 years, world will demand 40 percent more water than currently available. An estimated $114 billion in annual investments is needed to achieve ‘Sustainable Development Goal 6’, current global funding is around $33 billion. A collective response is needed to address the growing water crisis.

With ~500 partners – 210 private sector, 120 government agencies, 170 civil society organizations, the 2030 Water Resources Group is developing programs and policies with substantial on ground impact.

Our multi-stakeholder platforms bring together key decision-makers from government, private sector, and civil society to drive solutions in water-stressed countries - Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, South Africa, Tanzania, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Vietnam. We would be expanding our work to a total of 20-25 countries in the coming years.

We are helping to unlock blended finance to improve water efficiency in several states in India and are facilitating a policy to accelerate wastewater reuse. We worked to prioritize water projects and encouraged private financing in Peru and Mexico. In South Africa, our partnership has supported an award-winning Water Administration System to save 35 percent water that was previously lost in irrigation. We successfully engaged the mining industry in Mongolia on water management improvements.
