Cooperation for Post-2015 Water Targets and their Monitoring

Post 2015 debates on water are intensive. A consensus seems emerging that a possible water goal should encompass targets covering access to drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, wastewater and water resource management. Already, initiatives are addressing these important areas to propose options for the next generation of targets and indicators. However, consensus on targets and options for measurable indicators are currently less clear - with great differences between the subsectors. At the same time, concrete targets, indicators and data availability is where political and technical aspects of the post 2015 debate will need to meet.

The seminar will present the status of the debate; discuss actions needed to define measurable indicators and build a monitoring to set the right political incentives. The seminar intends to address the most important aspects and the questions related to cooperation to ensure links between national and global target settings and monitoring, but also interlink with other sectors, such as energy, food security and health, and applying the Nexus perspective.
