Oil & water don't mix: panel debate - embedding water management in oil & gas

Convenor(s):
IPIECA - The Global Oil and Gas Industry Association for Environmental and Social Issues
Co-convenor(s):
Conservation International

This event will be co-convened by IPIECA, the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues and Conservation International.

Both of these organisations are providing tools and guidance to the oil and gas industry to help manage water issues: IPIECA has developed its Water Management Framework (launched at World Water Week 2013) and has since produced two further guidance documents on “Identifying and Assessing Water Sources” and “Optimising Water Use through Efficiency” (launching in late 2014), while CI have been working with the industry to enhance functionality of the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) to incorporate a water component.

Following brief introductions from both organisations, a panel session, moderated by CI and with panellists from IPIECA member companies, will explore how the oil and gas industry is proactively and collectively managing water related potential risks and opportunities, including some of the challenges it faces. This panel session will include audience Q&A’s. Refreshments will be provided.
