New paradigm: incentivizing improvements in low and middle income countries?

Thursday 27 August | 14.00-15.30 | Room: NL Pillar Hall

The session will provide an overview of water risks related to production demands globally, extraction as well as pollution, crossfitting this with the development agenda in selected geographies, concluding with textile specific examples.

The convenors have jointly agreed on specific challenge issues/topics that will be discussed and addressed in the session. For example: the links between natural resource use-production (which ultimately is pricedriven) - development agendas. Role of regulation – improving or limiting? Will the industry in middle-income countries move to lower income countries, or will technology and good management practices keep costs low in middle income countries? What are the different incentives for companies to invest in technology and improve their business practices, beyond compliance?
