The cooperation between scientists, policy makers and local stakeholders is key for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of water security development plans, but there is still a need to improve the dialogue and active contribution of the African scientific community to policy making. Wastewater management can significantly be improved if dealt with an integrated approach, as it is part of the complete water cycle and should involve all stakeholders.
