From sector coordination to effective national accountability for SDG 6

Monday 27 August | 10.00-10.30 | Room: Exhibition Hall
@FANSA India

Join journalist Eric Paglia as he interviews Al-Hassan Adams and Wilhemina Malima about accountability! This session will showcase our ground-breaking global research on national accountability mechanism on SDG 6. It is widely recognised that the sustainable development goals (SDG’s) are ambitious and will require effective collaboration among all stakeholders. There is a perception out there that, many national WASH policies on planning, monitoring and review processes do not seek to consult and/or involve main stakeholders. The results of our global study on national accountability mechanisms conducted in 25 countries will be providing some targeted answers to governments, donors and civil society. We would be engaging the Sofa audience with a lively presentation which would be engaging, informative and forward looking.

“We might be tempted to believe that accountability is a question of fashion. But far from it. It’s important for us as CSOs to focus on accountability because without control, without the existence of reporting, our public policies are destined to fail.” - Roukiattou Ouedraogo, Communications and Advocacy Officer, SPONG
