City Water Resilience Framework and Governance for Resilient Water Systems

Tuesday 28 August | 16.00-16.30 | Room: Exhibition Hall

Over the past 10 years, growing appreciation of the diversity and scale of urban hazards, the complexity of cities, and the uncertainty associated with climate change and rapid urbanization has emphasized the importance of moving beyond risk management to building resilience.

This project is an opportunity to enable more resilience and inclusive water governance by providing a framework and associated tools that encourages stakeholders to come together; assess their resilience and develop an action plan to improve their long term resilience.

This project  has been developed in partnership with The Resilience Shift, Arup and SIWI and a steering group including The Rockefeller Foundation, 100 Resilient Cities, The World Bank, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA). The project was developed in collaboration with the cities of Cape Town, Amman, Hull, Greater Miami and the Beaches, Mexico City, Greater Manchester, Thessaloniki and Rotterdam.

Join us on the SIWI Sofa with Fred Boltz (CEO at Resolute Development Solutions), Dr Gisela Kaiser (Executive Director at the City of Cape Town), Eduardo Vazquez Herrera (Executive Director at Agua Capital) and Louise Ellis (Senior Water Engineer at Arup).
